Elizaveta – Fairy Tale for Girls

Her voice is lovely.  And her lyrics are too.  The first stanzas made me think of when I was a girl, usually in pigtails, constantly reading the Chronicles of Narnia with its’ talking trees and haunted castles, eating apples and leaving thumb marks in the books.

There’s a book I used to read
leaving stains on favorite pages
haunted castles, talking trees
phantom beasts in golden cages
can you see me rushing by
so sure of ever after
she is still somewhere inside
ponytales and sudden laughter

and he could almost hypnotize me
don’t know what he saw in me
but even now his magic binds me
and I will dream of him at night
walking in my secret garden
I would like to have your child
how can you say I’m a burden
take all the magic you have found

All the times I’d beg and crawl
feeling wounded and infected
