Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes
This song is really special to me. When I was a kid, we used to go sit up at Lookout Point with my parents and some neighbors. We would sit on the hoods of our cars, looking down at the Phoenix valley, enjoying the cool night air… and at that time period, this song was on the radio constantly, so most nights we heard this song as we sat there looking out over the city. Now, if you try to do that, the smog gets in the way. But I always think of those nights whenever I hear this song…
Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes
Who knows what tomorrow brings
In a world, few hearts survive
All I know, is the way I feel
When it’s real, I keep it alive
The road is long
There are mountains in our way
But we climb a step every day
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry, on a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world we know
Up where the clear winds blow
Some hang on to “used-to-be”
Live their lives looking behind
All we have is here and now
All our lives, out there to find
The road is long
There are mountains in our way
But we climb steps every day
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry, on a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world we know
Up where the clear winds blow
Time goes by
No time to cry
Life’s you and I, alive, baby
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry, on a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world we know
Up where the clear winds blow
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry, on a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world we know
Up where the clear winds blow
