Simple Minds – Don’t You Forget About Me
~ “…and these children that you spit on, as they try to change their worlds are immune to your consultations. They’re quite aware of what they’re going through…” – David Bowie~
Tonight, I’d like to present you with Simple Minds – Don’t You Forget About Me – from the movie “The Breakfast Club”, which is one of my all time favorite rebellious stoner teen movies. It came out in 1985. I was a very young teenager at the time, and it made a huge impression on me. I love all of the John Hughes films, but this is one of my favorites. I spent like, the next 15 years crushing on Judd Nelson. I even went through a phase where I obsessively watched his creepy Cabin by the Lake / Return to Cabin by the Lake serial killer movies, lol.
Simple Minds – Don’t You Forget About Me
Hey, hey, hey ,hey
Ohhh…
Won’t you come see about me?
I’ll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love’s strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don’t You Forget About Me
Don’t Don’t Don’t Don’t
Don’t You Forget About Me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ohhhh…..
Don’t you try to pretend
It’s my feeling we’ll win in the end
I won’t harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security
Don’t you forget about me
I’ll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I’ll put us back together at heart, baby
Don’t You Forget About Me
Don’t Don’t Don’t Don’t
Don’t You Forget About Me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on – call my name
Will you call my name?
I say :
Brian Johnson: Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong…but we think you’re crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us… In the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain…
Andrew Clark: …and an athlete…
Allison Reynolds: …and a basket case…
Claire Standish: …a princess…
John Bender: …and a criminal…
Brian Johnson: Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.
